As this week is Mental Health Awareness Week,...

Posted May 13, 2024

As this week is Mental Health Awareness Week, we wanted to share some mindfulness resources you can access through Wiseradviser and share how you can learn more through our 'Understanding and Supporting Clients with Mental Health Conditions' e-learning.

Mindfulness exercise with Rebecca Stambridge

Recorded for us by registered psychotherapist and mindfulness teacher, Rebecca Stambridge, this 8-minute guided mindfulness practice is designed to help us be mindful in everyday life and reduce stress and anxiety.

Mindfulness can help us respond differently to difficult thoughts and feelings by cultivating a curious and accepting response to them. If you have 8 minutes and a quiet space, give it a try.

Rebecca is a fully qualified, BACP registered psychotherapist as well as a mindfulness & self compassion teacher. She specialises in self-esteem, stress and anxiety. If you want to learn more from Rebecca about mindfulness, you can also access our 'Spotlight on Mindfulness' Webinar.

Understanding and Supporting Clients with Mental Health Conditions e-learning

This introductory level course looks at why it is important to take clients' mental health conditions into account, how to handle disclosure of mental health problems and how to deal with potentially difficult circumstances.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • identify what a mental health condition is
  • recognise why it is important to take mental health conditions into account
  • recognise the difference between a range of mental health conditions
  • identify reasons why clients may not disclose their mental health conditions
  • recognise ways a mental health condition can affect a client's ability to cope with their finances
  • identify ways to deal with an initial disclosure of a mental health condition
  • recognise other techniques for helping clients with different mental health conditions.
